Come On, Get Happy

It’s hilarious that I haven’t been on Tumblr in months but suddenly it’s time to study for finals and I’m like “let’s check out Tumblr” I’m a wee bit pathetic. Hopefully I’ll actually get some studying done eventually.

Have you ever had a pretty easy day but everything is SO spread out that you have to be on campus pretty much all day and even though you have tomorrow off and are possibly going on an AMAZING adventure to the alleged most fantastic thrift store ever with your best friend and getting lots of cheap gently used stuff and some birthday presents for someone you think is very special to you? But you have to suffer through the long boring day of seemingly doing nothing while in reality actually doing a few, well dispersed easy/ somewhat fun things that seem to encompass your entire day even though they’re each only about 2 hours on average? Yeah, that’s my life right now. 

Take my hand, it will be all right. Don’t let go, hold it tight.

Life is just a beautiful let down. I know, I get all of my revelations from songs but it’s so true. And if you’re trying to tell me that words have never spoken to your soul through a line of melody than you’re the biggest liar I know. Life picks you up, it lets you see how good it is to be up there on cloud nine having a blast, loving life, and then it brings you back to reality. There is absolutely NOTHING graceful about reality. It makes us stumble through it and all the while trying to find some people to pick through the wreckage with us and salvage what we can. This may sound like a very glass is half empty approach at first but just wait, I’ll turn it around. Once you find those people, you can unlock the true gracefulness and beauty of the reality of your life and you come to find out that you actually like who you are. Then there are those times when you have found those people but then they aren’t quite sure if they have found you yet. This can be a really sucky time. You don’t really know what to do because you’re standing there with your hand outstretched for what seems like eternity and that person that you want so badly to just trust you and take it and walk with you into the wild unknown is still pondering you. This waiting is when people usually give up. If you don’t give up and you just stand there at that crossroads with them with your hand outstretched showing them that you’re not going to wait for them to stretch their hand out in faith and then yank yours away showing them to be foolish, eventually, they will take it and the waiting makes you both better for it and it shows you that the things in life that are the best, are the things worth waiting for. Life may let you down, most of the time not so gently, but it will be beautiful, because just being alive in itself is beautiful, and more than we can even ask for. So keep your hand outstretched in a gesture of faith, that person will come around. Eventually.
